Myers Corners
Pillowcase Project:

This month the students at Myers Corners took part in the Pillowcase Project through the American Red Cross. Third Grade Dictionaries:

Third graders at Myers Corners will given dictionaries from the local Rotary Club in order to help them throughout the year in ELA. Students were excited to learn how to use their dictionaries, and share with their classmates the different words that they learned about.

Personal Milestones:
Jill Valentino, Gayhead AIS math teacher had her writing featured in both the print and online issues of Hudson Valley Parent magazine this month. For the December issue, Jill contributed an essay titled “Get the Scoop on Placentophagy: Moms Share Their Postpartum Stories” which is accessible online at https://hvparent.com/placenta-consumption
Jennifer Colucci, Gayhead 4th grade teacher, and her husband recently completed the Philadelphia Marathon held on November 18! The Philadelphia Marathon is one of the top ten marathons in the country. Of the experience, Colucci says that “Training and completing our first marathon together [along with my husband] was one of the best and most humbling experiences of my life. A marathon is definitely a metaphor for life- you get out of it what you put into it- hard work and dedication pay off. We can't wait to do it again!”

Community Events:
For the second year in a row, Gayhead students and staff donated to Fostering Hope Together, a local organization that helps foster families in the area. The Gayhead community celebrated raising over $3,000 by dressing up, school-wide, on Halloween. Teachers got in the spirit of the day and came in costume, too!
